Judge Vance & Robert Robertson
Walter Leroy Moody Jr. sent out a bomb to Judge Vance in December of 1989 with another one being sent out to an Atlanta Attorney Robert Robertson, two days after. After those bombs, two more were also sent out, one to a federal courthouse in Atlanta and another one to the NAACP but both were intercepted. Walter Leroy Moody Jr. was convicted of two counts of capital murder in connection with the December 1989 pipe-bomb murder of Judge Robert S. Vance of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. The murders were charged as capital because it was committed by means of explosives. Also because Judge Vance, one of his victims, was a federal public official. He was also convicted of first degree assault against Judge Vance's wife. He was sentenced to death and the state of Alabama carried out the death penalty for him on April 19th, 2018.
